Grace Baptist Church is putting a greater emphasis this year staying more connected. Whether it’s keeping our membership notified of current events, prayer requests and other news or learning more about our missionaries, we are encouraging connection. One of the things we want to recommend is making our main church website your home page. For those of you who don’t know how to do it, we have provided this tutorial.

Our web stats show us that there are four main browsers that access our site daily: Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Google Chrome. Simply scroll down and find the browser you use and follow the directions.

Change your Internet Explorer Home Page

This information applies to Windows Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Internet Explorer 8. If using an earlier version of Internet Explorer, visit the Microsoft Support site here.

Your home page is displayed when you first start Internet Explorer,
or when you click the Home button .

Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Internet Explorer.

Navigate to the webpage you would like to set as the home page.

Click the arrow to the right of the Home button , and then click Add or Change Home Page.

In the Add or Change Home Page dialog box, do one of the following:

To make the current webpage your only home page, click Use this webpage as your only home page.

To start a home page tab set or to add the current webpage to your set of home page tabs, click Add this webpage to your home page tabs.

To replace your existing home page or home page tab set with the webpages you currently have open, click Use the current tab set as your home page. This option will only be available if you have more than one tab open in Internet Explorer.

Click Yes to save your changes.

Change your Safari Home Page

In most versions of the Safari browser, the default home page setting will take you to Apple’s site. You can change this setting to anything that you like in just a few short steps.

First, open your Safari browser by clicking on the Safari icon in the dock.

Click on Safari in your Safari menu, located at the top of your screen. When the drop-down menu appears, choose Preferences.

Select General from the Preferences menu, which is now overlaying your browser window. Once General is selected, you will notice a section labeled Home Page in the main window of the Preferences dialog. Directly to the right of the “Home Page” label is an edit field containing your current home page URL. In the example below, Safari’s current home page is http://www.apple.com. To modify this address, simply erase the contents of the edit field and replace it with the desired web address. Directly below this edit field you will see a button labeled Set to Current Page. Clicking this button will change your home page setting to whatever page you are currently viewing within the Safari browser.

Once you have completed your changes, close the Safari Preferences dialog by clicking the red circle/x located in the top left hand corner of the box.

Change your Firefox Home Page

At the top of your Firefox browser, click Tools > Options: The “Options” window will appear.

To the right of “Home Page,” there is a web address. This is the address of the Firefox default home page. It is in this space that you will type the address of your new home page.

But before doing so, it’s good to know what those 3 buttons below the address mean:

Use Current Page – If you were to hit this button, it will make the current page of your Firefox browser your home page. In other words, let’s say you were on the website NFL.com when you entered the Options Window. If you were to click on the Use Current Page button, NFL.com would become your new home page.

Use Bookmark – Clicking this button will bring up a list of your bookmarks. You can then choose your new home page from that list.

Restore to Default – Clicking this button makes the home page the Firefox default home page.

Now that we know what all of the buttons mean, it’s time to change our home page to the Grace Baptist Church home page. Type http://www.grace-middletown.com/ into the box labeled “Home Page.” Then, click on “OK”:

To make sure it worked properly, go up to the Home Page button in your browser and click on it: Your new home page should appear!

Change your Google Chrome Home Page

In Google Chrome, the browser’s default home page behavior is set to open the “New Tab” page. This page displays thumbnail images of the sites that you visit the most. However, you can modify this setting to load the URL of your choice in just a few easy steps.

First, open your Google Chrome browser.

Click on the Chrome “wrench” icon, located in the upper right hand corner of your browser window. When the drop-down menu appears, select the choice labeled Options.

The Google Chrome Options dialog should now be displayed, overlaying your main browser window. Click on the Basics tab if it is not already selected. In the middle of the dialog is the Home Page section, featuring three choices involving your browser’s home page setting.

The first choice, selected by default, is Use the New Tab page. Chrome’s New Tab page displays titles and thumbnail images of the websites which you visit the most often as well as links to the three tabs which you have most recently closed.

The second item in the Home Page section of Chrome’s Basic Options is labeled Open this page. If you would like to set your browser’s home page to a specific URL, select this option and enter the appropriate address.

The third item in the Home Page section of Google’s Basic Options is a check box labeled Show Home button on the toolbar. Disabled by default, this setting will display a Home Page button on Chrome’s toolbar. The button is placed directly to the left of the browser’s address bar.

To add this button to your toolbar, simply check the box and click on the Close button.

We have video recordings of most services dating back to 2005.

Remember that special service? The one God tugged at your heart and moved you in a way you’ve never experienced before. The one that caused you to make a life-altering decision or was instrumental in leading a loved one to the Lord.

We have spent the last year changing our format in archiving audio and video. We have audio and video recorded in various formats all the way back to Dr. Howard Sears preaching in the late ’70′s. Some of what we have is poor quality, others are digitally mastered and able to be reproduced quickly and easily. Regardless of the format, date and time, we would be more than happy to check on that special service for you. Please stop by the Media Closet in the Lobby and fill out the simple form and we will do our best to locate what it is you are searching for.

As time goes on, we will improve this service even more and even make it available for you to order online through this site, but in the meantime, do not hesitate to contact one of us. We would be happy to serve you.

The Media Ministry of Grace Baptist Church has spent the past seven months improving the communication of our ministries and the web presence of our church through the use of blogs, websites and social media. After the dust settled and most things were complete, we realized that we hadn’t followed what we preach in having a site all our own.

This website is a growing project that will become the center of all things media at Grace Baptist Church.
